How to start with Linux
Welcome to this website. You’re probably looking for a way to learn about the Linux operating system. I think you have found a nice place to start. I will cover multiple Linux distributions so you have a good idea which fits you best.
This website is meant for absolute beginners, of course there are some tutorials or scripts for more advanced users, but main goal is to teach beginners how to use Linux.
Why to start using Linux you ask…
First of all, Linux is completely free, most of the default software packages, are 100% free. Linux is fun to use, it teaches you how to use your computer very differently then let’s say Windows.
If you already have Windows 10 installed, sure Windows 11 is a free upgrade, but other software like MS Office or Video editors, all cost money, and sometimes a lot.
Which Linux for you?
Linux comes in many flavors and every distro (distribution) has it’s own purpose. There are distro’s suited for server installations, workstations/desktops, security testing and even forensic investigations.
I will also cover a nice distribution, specially made for kids and familly usage with parental controls build in.
One of the main problems for people to swith to Linux is many times; gaming, luckily even gaming is starting to get a lot easier on Linux systems with Steam and Proton enabled. Many games even run natively on Linux these days.
